The parallel cabinet is a special device designed and manufactured specifically for the parallel operation of diesel generator sets. Applicable to Parallel operation of 2 or more diesel generator sets with electronic speed regulators. It has multiple functions such as remote starting of generator sets, automatic paralleling, automatic proportional distribution of active power, automatic addition of generators, decoupling and standby shutdown, and generator fault display and protection.
This system is to realize automatic adjustment of the frequency of the power station and the distribution of active power between the parallel operating units, so that they are within the given allowable range; and to realize the transfer of active power between the parallel operating units of the power station through operation., in order to switch the unit or unload and shut down. This system can not only reduce the operating intensity of the on-duty personnel, but also maintain the grid frequency at the rated value, improve the quality of power supply, and balance the load distribution between units to increase the load rate of the units, thereby improving the stability and economy of the power station operation. Types and characteristics of parallel cabinets:
1. Manual cabinet paralleling: a system that adopts the traditional lighting method.
2. Semi-automatic paralleling of cabinets: manually operate the generator set to start and stop, manually operate the opening and closing of the paralleling cabinet system, and automatically complete paralleling and decoupling control.
3. Automatic paralleling cabinet: a paralleling system that automatically distributes the load by controlling the start and stop of the unit, as well as the automatic paralleling and decoupling of the paralleling system by the presence or absence of the mains power supply.
4、Fully automatic parallel cabinet: adopted on the basis of automatic parallel cabinetPLC (Programmed Control) completes the logical functions of automatic input and parallel operation, automatic decommissioning, and shutdown of multiple units (often called peak shaving).

Automatic parallel cabinet function:
Automatic paralleling:When the unit is started successfully, power is sent to the parallel cabinet. When paralleling is required, the synchronizer detects the signal and acts on the ESC to automatically adjust the frequency and phase of the unit to be paralleled to be consistent with the busbar, send out a paralleling signal, and act on the air switch to close and parallel the unit.
1. Automatic load distribution: When two or more units are paralleled, the unit starts to operate with load, and the load distributor will act on the electric regulator to distribute the load in proportion according to the power of the unit.
2. Peak shaving: (Optional option) When 2 or more units are running in parallel, when the load changes, the number of operating units can be increased or decreased according to the load factor. Generally, when the load factor is lower than 35%, the units will be de-paralleled, and when the load factor is higher than 80%, the units will be started in parallel, so that the units can operate in the most economical state. This function requires the generator set to have a self-starting function in order to be completed.
3. Protection functions: A: Synchronous protection; B: Reverse power protection; C: Overcurrent and short-circuit protection (completed by protector); D: Overvoltage and undervoltage protection (optional).
4. Indicating instruments: A. Voltmeter; B. Ammeter; C. Frequency meter; D. Power meter; E. Power factor meter; F. Synchronous indicator meter (for observation during parallel operation).
